Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
